University of Tokyo In 2013, broadcast that its reduced name in English would be "UTokyo" instead of the currently-used "TODAI."
The College is generally known as "Todai" in Japanese, an abridgement of the Japanese types that make up the Japanese name of the University. The full Japanese name of the University is the four types that spell out Tokyo Daigaku. Taking the first character of Tokyo (our home city) and the first character of Daigaku (That means university), gives Todai.
Worldwide Activities
Worldwide actions at the
University of Tokyo are intentional to confirm that the
University is able to succeed in the face of struggle from universities within Japan and around the world, while at the same time promoting the worldwide public as a whole through teamwork with the world's top organizations pointing at generating new information for humanity. The building of a worldwide good-looking location for education and study is in part founded on relations with other colleges.
